Acer Unveils Nitro Blaze Link, a Handheld for Cloud Gaming and Streaming

ACER Nitro Blaze Link

Acer is taking a unique approach to the handheld market with the announcement of the Acer Nitro Blaze Link, a dedicated streaming device designed specifically for local PC game streaming and cloud gaming. Unlike its more powerful siblings, like the Windows-based Nitro Blaze 7, 8, and 11, the Blaze Link strips away heavy hardware in favor of an ultra-lightweight, streaming-first architecture.

Running on a Linux operating system, the Acer Nitro Blaze Link is pre-configured to utilize Sunshine and Moonlight software. This setup allows gamers to stream titles rendered on a separate, high-powered home gaming PC directly to the handheld over a local network. Because all the heavy lifting is done remotely, the device’s internal specifications are modest: it features just 1GB of LPDDR4 memory and 8GB of storage. This hardware philosophy closely mirrors Sony’s PlayStation Portal, positioning the Blaze Link as a PC equivalent.

Looking at the Externals

Despite the low-cost internals, Acer has not skimped on the display. The handheld sports a 7-inch touchscreen with a 1920×1200 resolution and a 16:10 aspect ratio. To ensure a low-latency streaming experience, the device relies on Wi-Fi 6 connectivity. Physical connectivity includes a USB Type-C port for charging, a 3.5mm headphone jack, and dual 2W speakers.

In terms of ergonomics and controls, the device features a standard, full-sized layout, including dual joysticks, ABXY buttons, a D-pad, bumpers, triggers, and dedicated navigation buttons (Start, Back, Home, and a quick-access overlay widget button). The unit is powered by an 18Wh battery.

The Acer Nitro Blaze Link is scheduled to launch in North America in Q4 2026. While Acer has not yet confirmed pricing, the device’s long-term success will likely depend on its ability to hit a highly competitive, budget-friendly price point.
