Amazon Announces the All-New Amazon Luna with GameNight, Blockbusters, and Prime Perks

Amazon is giving its cloud gaming service a major reset. The company has announced the all-new Amazon Luna, a redesigned and reimagined platform that aims to make gaming more social, approachable, and accessible. Launching later this year, the updated Luna combines a new party-focused GameNight hub with a rotating catalog of blockbuster and indie titles, all included at no extra cost with Prime.

For Amazon, this is more than just a content refresh. It is a full rethink of what Luna should be and who it is for. The company says it wants to move past the barriers that keep so many people out of living-room gaming such as the high cost of hardware, intimidating controls, and complicated setup. Instead, the new Luna puts simplicity and social connection first, letting you use the devices you already own, from Fire TV to smartphones.

Amazon describes this redesign as a way to not only create a different place to play games but also a place to play games differently. By focusing on accessibility and ease of use, the all-new Luna aims to reach people who might not normally consider themselves gamers, while also providing more variety for those who do. From casual family fun to blockbuster adventures, Luna is being positioned as a service built around connection and choice.

It highlights a bigger trend in cloud gaming: success will come from reaching beyond hardcore gamers to the households that already stream everything else.

GameNight and Social Play

One of the biggest additions to the all-new Amazon Luna is GameNight, a new hub designed around party-style fun. GameNight is built for living-room play, where you can gather family and friends and jump into quick, approachable games without the need for extra hardware. No console, no controller. Just scan a QR code and use your smartphone to join in.

Amazon is kicking things off with a surprise headliner. The first exclusive GameNight title is Courtroom Chaos: Starring Snoop Dogg, an AI-powered improv courtroom game where you create wild characters, spin outrageous stories, and try to win over Judge Snoop. It is exactly the kind of unexpected, laugh-out-loud experience that Amazon hopes will define GameNight.

Alongside the Snoop Dogg debut, more than 25 additional titles will be available at launch. These include familiar names like Angry Birds, Exploding Kittens, Draw & Guess, and Flappy Golf Party. Classic board game adaptations like Taboo, Ticket to Ride, and Clue are also part of the lineup. Each one has been tuned to work seamlessly in the living room, with quick setup and simple controls that keep everyone involved.

I can already see this becoming a hit during family get-togethers, the kind of thing you fire up when everyone wants to join in. Amazon says more GameNight titles will continue rolling out, ensuring that each family game night stays fresh and fun.

Blockbuster and Indie Library

GameNight may be the centerpiece of the redesign, but the all-new Amazon Luna is also offering a deeper library of games for Prime members. The service will include more than 50 titles that cover a wide mix of blockbuster releases, indie hits, and family-friendly options. All of these are included with Prime at no additional cost.

Some of the bigger names on the list include Hogwarts Legacy, Indiana Jones and the Great Circle, Kingdom Come: Deliverance II, and TopSpin 2K25. Alongside them are popular indies such as Dave the Diver and family-friendly games like SpongeBob SquarePants: Battle for Bikini Bottom and Farming Simulator 22. The goal is to give Prime members a catalog that can handle both quick sessions and longer gaming nights without needing a console or gaming PC.

For those who want even more, Amazon is keeping its subscription option in place with Luna Premium. This tier expands the library with titles such as EA Sports FC 25, LEGO DC Super-Villains, Team Sonic Racing, and Batman: Arkham Knight. It is a way to step beyond the included catalog for gamers looking for a larger rotation of big-name releases.

These games do require a controller, but Luna keeps things simple. If you already own a Bluetooth controller, you are good to go. Amazon is also offering discounts on its Luna Controller and select Fire TV bundles during Prime Big Deal Days, with similar deals expected in the future.

Built for Prime Members

Amazon is building the all-new Luna directly around Prime. Just as Prime Video and Prime Music provide entertainment on demand, Luna is being positioned as another benefit included in the membership. That means no extra costs for the base service, no new hardware to buy, and no complicated setup. You simply sign in, launch the app on Fire TV, smart TVs, or tablets, and start playing.

This focus reflects what Prime members have been asking for. Amazon says that many find traditional gaming too expensive, too intimidating, or too isolating. Buying a console or a high-end PC is out of reach for many households. And complex games can feel more like a commitment than a quick escape. Luna is designed to remove those barriers by offering experiences that are simple, social, and affordable. You can turn your living room into a game night hub without needing anything more than a Prime subscription and devices you already own.

Amazon also highlights how Luna can bring families and friends together in ways that other services have not prioritized. By making the smartphone the default controller for GameNight titles, anyone can join instantly, regardless of gaming experience. It is about lowering the entry point so that gaming feels welcoming instead of intimidating.

This redesign isn’t the finish line. Amazon sees AI and cloud advances opening doors to interactive experiences that have never been tried before. If that happens, Luna could grow past being just a game library and start to redefine gaming for Prime members.

The All-New Amazon Luna and Its New Direction

The all-new Amazon Luna feels like a complete reset for the service. Rather than trying to go head-to-head with Xbox Cloud Gaming or GeForce NOW, Amazon is carving out its own lane. Those services are built almost entirely around delivering console-quality experiences through the cloud. Luna, meanwhile, is doubling down on Prime, making gaming part of a package that already reaches millions of households.

Balancing Blockbusters and Accessibility

At the same time, Amazon is not walking away from gamers who want big-name releases. The inclusion of AAA titles like Hogwarts Legacy, Indiana Jones and the Great Circle, and EA Sports FC 25 shows that Luna still wants to serve those looking for traditional gaming experiences. The difference is that these blockbusters sit alongside approachable party games and family-friendly titles. Giving you a mix you will not find elsewhere.

One detail worth noting is the change from Luna+ to Luna Premium. Amazon is clearly refreshing the service from top to bottom. Including its naming, to make the tiers more recognizable and appealing. That rebrand, alongside the new GameNight hub and expanded Prime library, underscores just how sweeping this reset really is.

For me, the balance is what stands out. I can picture a living room where someone jumps into Draw & Guess with their phone while another spends time with Kingdom Come: Deliverance II. It’s two very different styles of play, but they coexist under the same subscription.

With GameNight, a rotating Prime library, and Luna Premium for more, Amazon is signaling that Luna is not chasing the same race as other cloud platforms. It is positioning itself as both social and substantial, simple enough for newcomers but still carrying the blockbusters that keep seasoned gamers invested. That combination could finally give Luna a clear identity within the cloud gaming space.
