Amazon Luna
Amazon Luna’s Library is Shrinking Radically

Update: A handful of games listed have gotten a reprieve (see those stricken out) and additional games have been removed including:

  • A Plague Tale: Innocence (Dec. 20, 2022)
  • The Surge (Dec. 20, 2022)
  • Star Wars Pin Ball (Dec. 20, 2022)

A little over a week ago, we reported on a worrying trend in that Amazon Luna was losing a lot of games – a lot more than it was getting. Unfortunately, it now looks like this has escalated in a major way! Looking through the current Luna catalog (checkout an example game page), it appears that no less than 45 games will be leaving the service in December (in addition to Killer Queen Black leaving this world everywhere including Luna on Nov. 30)! What’s even more unfortunate is that this list also includes many of Luna’s best titles.

  • Tumblestone (Dec. 1, 2022)
  • Phogs (Dec. 1, 2022)
  • Chorus (Dec. 1, 2022) (Stayed)

While this isn’t a total death sentence for the service, it appears to point to a lack of commitment from Amazon to the product. We know of only a few games which are set to be added to the library – including three slated for November that haven’t yet materialized.

The Luna controller saw some deep discounts over Black Friday weekend. The sale price may compensate partially for the loss in value in the service. However, purchasers might have expected to be playing some of these games come Christmas and in the new year. Thankfully, the Luna controller does additionally work as a standard bluetooth controller outside of the service – something the Google Stadia controller unfortunately lacks.
