Honkai Star Rail Version 3.6 Back to Earth in Evernight Arrives September 24

Two anime characters stand with dramatic poses under a colorful sky, text reads "Back to Earth in Evernight" in Honkai Star Rail Version 3.6.

HoYoverse has locked in the next big update for Honkai Star Rail, and it’s landing later this month. Version 3.6, titled Back to Earth in Evernight, arrives on September 24 and brings new story content, new characters, and some valuable rewards that should get fans logging in.

The update expands the main Trailblaze Mission, as Miss Evernight reveals her plan for “Era Nova,” a new vision she believes is the only way to save the world. While that plays out, Dan Heng prepares to return to Amphoreus, ready to face new challenges and reconnect with the Astral Express crew. It’s a setup that promises more answers while adding fresh twists to the ongoing story.

Of course, it wouldn’t be a major update without new faces to recruit. Evernight finally joins the roster as a playable 5-star Ice character, stepping into the spotlight with her own unique mechanics. Dan Heng also returns in his new form, Permansor Terrae, and HoYoverse is giving him away for free. Anyone with Trailblaze Level 3 or higher can claim this limited 5-star character just by logging in.

Version 3.6 looks set to mix big story developments with a generous giveaway, making September 24 a day to keep on your radar.

Amphoreus at a Crossroads

The main story of Version 3.6 picks up in Amphoreus, where the future of the world hangs in the balance. Miss Evernight steps into the spotlight, revealing her vision of “Era Nova.” It’s a path that breaks away from the current idea of salvation, but one she believes is the only way forward. Her choices set the stage for conflict and force tough questions about what’s really worth saving.

At the same time, Dan Heng prepares to return to Amphoreus. His focus is clear, face whatever dangers stand in his way and reconnect with the Astral Express crew. The update positions his return as a key turning point, tying personal stakes with the larger fight over the planet’s uncertain future.

Outside of the main story, Version 3.6 also makes it easier to revisit earlier chapters. A new Main Story Replay feature lets you go back through completed Trailblaze Missions, Trailblaze Continuances, and Companion Missions. You can choose specific scenes or cutscenes, giving you the freedom to revisit favorite moments or catch details you may have missed the first time.

With Amphoreus caught at a crossroads, and familiar faces stepping back into the spotlight, this update brings both new challenges and a chance to revisit earlier ones.

New Power Joins the Astral Express

Two familiar faces are finally joining the fight in Version 3.6, and both bring some powerful new tricks. First up is Evernight, now confirmed as a playable 5-star Ice character who follows the Path of Remembrance. She’s tied to the forgotten past of March 7th and exists to protect her future. Her combat style revolves around fighting alongside memosprites, boosting their CRIT DMG whenever she’s on the field. The more Remembrance characters you’ve got, the stronger the effect. Summoning her memosprite “Evey” unlocks “Memoria,” which builds up damage over time.

Once the stacks reach the right point, Evey takes immediate action, hitting all enemies. Evernight’s Ultimate goes even further, pushing both her and Evey into a “Darkest Riddle” state that ramps up their damage while letting Evernight stack Memoria even faster.

Then there’s Dan Heng • Permansor Terrae, who takes another step forward after wielding the Azure Dragon’s power. His new abilities give him a support-heavy role, focusing on shielding and protecting allies. He can bond with a teammate, summon a Souldragon, and hand out stackable Shields to the party. His Ultimate adds even more defense while letting the Souldragon perform follow-up attacks based on the Bondmate’s combat skills. Best of all, HoYoverse is giving him away for free. Log in at Trailblaze Level 3 or above anytime before the end of Version 4.0 and he’s yours.

With both Evernight and Dan Heng bringing new strategies. These additions are set to change how you approach team building and defense.

Trials, Mayhem, and Dromas Await

Honkai Star Rail Version 3.6 isn’t just about new story beats and characters. It also drops a packed slate of events that should keep you busy.

At the top of the list is Anomaly Arbitration, a new high-difficulty trial that looks built for hardcore strategists. You’ll need to form three different teams to tackle three trial stages, and only after clearing those can you move on to the final stage. It’s not a quick run either, since you’ll be juggling team comps and resources across the battles. Clear everything and you’ll score the new “Interference Key” alongside other valuable rewards. Honestly, this sounds like the kind of mode that can test even a well-built roster. Perfect if you’ve been looking for something tougher.

On the lighter side, Colorful Mayhem is the multiplayer event for this update. It’s pitched as fast, seasonal fun, and it’s a nice break from the heavy challenge of Anomaly Arbitration. If you’ve got friends who hop in regularly, this one feels like an easy go-to when you want something more casual.

Another addition is Nice Weather for Dromases. This one’s all about raising dromas, a smaller-scale event that leans more into collection and progression than straight combat. It feels like a breather event in between the high-stakes battles, but still gives you something to log in for.

Finally, there’s the new Main Story Replay feature. You can revisit completed Trailblaze Missions, Continuances, and Companion Missions, and even pick specific scenes or cutscenes to rewatch. As someone who often forgets key dialogue after moving on, I like this addition. It makes it easier to catch the small details without digging through YouTube.

From the looks of it, Version 3.6 has enough variety to keep both hardcore and casual runs interesting.

Honkai Star Rail Version 3.6 Launches September 24

Honkai Star Rail Version 3.6, Back to Earth in Evernight, goes live September 24 and brings plenty to look forward to. Between Miss Evernight’s “Era Nova” storyline, Dan Heng’s new role as Permansor Terrae, and the launch of high-stakes trials like Anomaly Arbitration, this update is packed with both story and gameplay hooks.

The free giveaway of Dan Heng • Permansor Terrae is a huge bonus. Trailblazers at Level 3 or higher can claim him just by logging in, which makes this one of the easier chances to pick up a limited 5-star character. Pair that with Evernight’s long-awaited debut, and it feels like HoYoverse is aiming to shake up team comps in a big way.

Outside of new faces, the events lineup looks varied enough to cover different play styles. Whether you want to grind through tough challenges, play something lighter with friends, or revisit old story chapters with the new replay feature, there’s something here to check out.

Honkai Star Rail is already sitting at over 150 million downloads across PC, iOS, Android, PS5, and the Epic Games Store. It’s also stacked up plenty of awards, from Apple’s iPhone Game of the Year to Best Mobile Game at The Game Awards. With that kind of momentum, Version 3.6 is arriving at just the right time.
