Jackbox Says Its Smart TV Cloud Gaming Service Is Still Coming In 2026

Jackbox Games still plans to launch its own smart TV cloud gaming service later this year. CEO Mike Bilder says Netflix and Amazon’s growing focus on casual TV gaming helps validate Jackbox’s approach to party games.

Bilder discussed what he called Jackbox’s own “streaming solution” in a new interview with Variety. The interview also revealed release dates for The Jackbox Party Pack 12 and Trivia Murder Party 3.

We’ve been following Jackbox’s move into smart TV cloud gaming since April. At the time, the company announced a free, ad-supported app powered by AWS GameLift Streams. Bilder’s latest comments confirm that Jackbox still expects the service to launch in 2026.

Jackbox Still Plans Its Smart TV Cloud Gaming Service For 2026

Bilder told Variety that Jackbox is working on its own streaming solution for launch later this year. The company sees smart TVs as a way to reach casual audiences who may not own an XBOX or PlayStation console.

That fits with the plan Jackbox outlined earlier this year. Its smart TV app will use AWS GameLift Streams to run Jackbox games in the cloud. That means you won’t need console-style gaming hardware in your home.

Jackbox originally said the first version would include a small collection of free, ad-supported games. It also planned a beta on one or two smart TV platforms before expanding with more games and features.

Netflix And Amazon Are Validating Jackbox’s Approach

Jackbox also sees Netflix and Amazon’s gaming moves as validation for its approach. Netflix currently offers The Jackbox Party Essentials through Netflix Games on TV. Amazon previously offered a Jackbox Games subscription channel through Amazon Luna.

Bilder says Jackbox considers casual gamers its real audience. He doesn’t see Fortnite or GTA as the company’s main competition. Instead, he compared Jackbox with social games and activities such as Life, Clue, Charades and Rock Band.

That makes smart TVs a natural target for the company. Jackbox wants to reach people on hardware they already have at home. That includes people who may not think of themselves as traditional gamers.

VP of business development Andy Kniaz also pushed back on describing Jackbox games as simply low-spec. He described the company’s approach as accessible, with the focus on removing barriers that can keep people from playing.

Party Pack 12 And Trivia Murder Party 3 Get Release Dates

The Jackbox Party Pack 12 will launch October 15. Variety reports that Trivia Murder Party 3 is scheduled for September 17. Jackbox previously said Trivia Murder Party 3 would first arrive through Early Access in late summer 2026. Its full 1.0 launch is planned for 2027.

Party Pack 12 includes We Forgot a Card, MegaPals, Debate and Switch, Idol Factions and Hyperface. It is coming to Steam, Epic Games Store, PlayStation 5, XBOX Series X|S, Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2. Apple TV, iPad and the Mac App Store are also included.

The release dates add two more milestones to Jackbox’s 2026 plans. The bigger development here is the company’s move into smart TV cloud gaming. Bilder’s latest comments show that Jackbox still intends to bring the service to smart TVs before the end of the year.
