PHYND plans to expand advertising opportunities for brands in Q4 2026 as it continues testing the business model behind its subscription-free cloud gaming service. CEO André Swanston discussed the timing during an interview with Beet.TV at Cannes Lions 2026. He said PHYND hasn’t opened the service widely to advertisers yet as it studies the current beta and develops FAME.
FAME is short for Phynd Agentic Monetization Engine, the company’s AI-powered advertising technology. PHYND uses pre-roll ads before games begin, while brands can also support rewards, discounts, and virtual items earned during play. These formats fund free access without stopping a game for an advertisement.
PHYND Is Refining FAME Before Its Q4 Expansion
PHYND is collecting data from its current Samsung Smart TV beta before bringing more brands into the service. Swanston said the company expects to begin opening those opportunities in Q4, though he didn’t name participating brands, prices, or a specific start date.
The beta launched in the US on May 18, 2026. PHYND later reported that more than six million US homes had downloaded the app. That figure measures household downloads rather than active users or repeat play, but it establishes the size of the installation base supplying PHYND’s early data.
Swanston also said people have played for longer and used PHYND more than the company expected. He didn’t provide figures, an initial baseline, or a measurement period, so the comments remain PHYND’s early assessment of the beta.
The company is also considering the buying process for advertisers. Swanston said PHYND wants brands to use advertising tools they already understand rather than requiring them to learn a separate process for cloud gaming.
Pre-Roll Ads And Sponsored Benefits Fund Free Access
PHYND’s business model depends on advertising revenue instead of monthly subscription fees. Its approach separates traditional advertisements from active gameplay, placing them before a game starts.
Sponsored rewards provide another option. Brands could support virtual items, discounts, or other benefits connected to play without inserting a commercial break into a game. PHYND hasn’t announced when each format will become available or whether every game will use the same options.
Swanston said brand participation should contribute to the experience rather than pull people away from it. That approach gives PHYND more than one way to fund the service while avoiding the repeated interruptions found in some other free entertainment products.
Opening FAME to more brands in Q4 2026 will test whether that model can support PHYND’s growing Smart TV audience. The company now needs to turn its early reach and usage data into advertising options that brands will use without changing how people play.
