Shadow PC Details Anti-Cheat Issues, Hardware Costs, and Platform Updates

Shadow PC has shared a new platform update in its latest ShadowPost. It covers several areas affecting the service, including anti-cheat compatibility, rising PC hardware costs, and a set of recent app and platform updates.

The update outlines current issues under review alongside incremental changes rolling out across Shadow’s ecosystem.

Easy Anti-Cheat Issues Are Affecting Some Games on Shadow PC

Some games using Easy Anti-Cheat are currently failing to launch on Shadow PCs. This follows recent changes to how the anti-cheat software evaluates virtual machine environments.

These changes have resulted in Shadow PCs being flagged as higher-risk systems, despite the service not offering tools intended to bypass game rules. In several cases, the studios behind affected titles were not aware that Shadow access was being blocked.

Discussions have been ongoing since December with Epic Games and multiple publishers. The focus has been on clarifying how Shadow PCs operate and seeking recognition as legitimate environments on Easy Anti-Cheat servers. The issue centres on how virtual machines are validated within the anti-cheat system rather than on user behaviour.

As a result, some games that previously launched on Shadow may currently be unavailable, depending on their anti-cheat configuration.

Rising RAM Prices Are Pushing Up PC Hardware Costs

Outside of game compatibility, PC hardware costs have increased in recent months, with RAM pricing rising across the consumer market. Higher demand from AI-focused data centres has been a contributing factor to the increase in memory prices.

For ShadowPC users, changes in consumer hardware pricing do not alter the system resources provided through the service, as hardware provisioning and upgrades are handled at the platform level.

Resident Evil Requiem Highlighted as Upcoming Title

Resident Evil Requiem is scheduled to release on February 27 and was referenced by Shadow as an example of a newer PC release.

The game supports features such as DLSS 4.5, path tracing, and both first- and third-person views. ShadowPC runs titles with these requirements without relying on users to upgrade their local hardware.

Platform and App Updates Rolled Out Across Devices

Alongside the headline items, several ShadowPC platform and app updates have been rolled out:

  • Android companion mode now keeps the screen active and supports controllers
  • Browser-based Shadow access adds a shutdown button and clearer microphone permission indicators
  • Shadow USB now supports additional peripherals, including the Octavi IFR1 and Moza R5
  • iOS and tvOS users can disable special gestures in touch-based mouse mode

Ongoing Work on Compatibility and Platform Updates

Overall, the latest ShadowPost gives a clear snapshot of where Shadow PC stands right now. Anti-cheat issues are still blocking access to some games, PC hardware prices continue to rise outside the service, and smaller app updates are rolling out across devices. For now, Shadow is dealing with a mix of unresolved compatibility problems and routine platform changes, with anti-cheat access remaining the biggest unanswered piece.
