Welcome back to another edition of Sunday Stadia Stats. Welcome to September! Remember, you can interact with all the data yourself on our Stats Page.
Looking at a few recent numbers, the Destiny 2 player base on Stadia got a kick upwards with the new in game season:
One of the things we track here at Stadia Dosage is game leaderboard sizes over time. We took all the games (with leaderboards) which launched on Stadia Pro and plotted their leaderboard growth next to each other (using day “0” as the day they went on Stadia Pro. Keep in mind that most Stadia Pro games unfortunately simply don’t have a leaderboard for us to track.
Two games from different times in Stadia’s history dominate the chart – Sniper Elite 4 and Dirt 5. It’s no surprise to see these two very well known and popular games on top. Other than about a factor of 2X difference in magnitude, it’s also interesting to see the similarities in shape between those top curves – both from games which stayed in Stadia Pro for 3 months before exiting.
Let’s now zoom in on some of the indie-ish games below:
You can see a few interesting things. First, we should note that Kaze is not lower than the others because it is less played but because the leaderboard is only for an optional (speedrun) aspect of the game.
Next, you can see how similarly the Centipede (single player recharged mode) and Worms (optional training) leaderboard have been growing. Both represent only play for a single game mode or optional level. Note also that the Merek’s Market (which released alongside Dirt 5) level 2 completions leaderboard appears to be setting the pace of players for Yars: Recharged and Tri6: Infinite.
In comparing to Steam stats, Merek’s Market and Tri6: Infinite clearly have more players on Stadia than PC players. That’s likely true for the Atari games as well – demonstrating the value of the subscription model.
