Amazon Luna lost well over 50 games from its service during the last quarter of 2022 (see here and here). For now, only a handful of new games have replaced those lost. Two highly anticipated games that were meant to come to Luna+ in November are still AWOL (Kingdoms of Amalur: Re-Reckoning and Severed Steel).
We recently reported that Amazon has announced two new (other) games coming to Luna this January. We have been curious if any more games would be leaving, and if the additions would again exceed the losses or not.
Unfortunately, we’ve looked through the catalog and noted three additional games that appear to have been lost recently:
- Hokko Life
- Tennis World Tour 2
- Two Point Hospital
And, we see that Amazon Luna has marked three additional games as leaving soon:
- Jan 12 – Kine
- Feb 2 – Heave Ho
- Feb 3 – Monster Boy and The Cursed Kingdom
It’s a little hard to reconstruct the exact timing when each game left, but we think that the Luna library peaked around 276 games (counting Capcom Arcade Stadium as a single title) back when it had 5 channels and is now down to 220 across its three remaining channels – 41 on the Ubisoft channel, 10 on the Jackbox Channel and 169 on the newly merged Luna+ channel.
Of the games that are leaving, there aren’t any titles that pose an existential threat for the platform. But, I personally have a fond spot for Monster Boy. It’s a fantastic platformer that my son and I enjoyed playing through together back on Stadia.
