Big News For Blacknut Cloud Gaming

Blacknut has announced that the Ubisoft+ Premium subscription service is coming to its cloud gaming platform.

Ubisoft+ Premium allows gamers to access a complete catalogue of Ubisoft titles at the cost of a monthly subscription fee. This also includes brand new releases such as Star Wars Outlaws, Assassin’s Creed Shadows and Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora.

At the time of writing, it has been confirmed to Cloud Dosage that the three titles mentioned above will be coming to Blacknut alongside an extensive list of others.

However, if you log into your Blacknut account and navigate to your subscriptions, the option to purchase the Ubisoft+ Premium subscription is already there and active.

“This new chapter with Ubisoft reflects our shared belief that premium gaming should also be effortless. Together, we’re combining the best of both worlds; the depth of the Blacknut library and the prestige of Ubisoft+ —to give players generous, instant access to incredible games, on any screen, without compromise.”
– Olivier Avaro, CEO of Blacknut

This move further strengthens the partnership between Blacknut and Ubisoft. Last year, they confirmed that the two would be working closely together to distribute Ubisoft titles via cloud streaming.

It also really should come as a surprise that Ubisoft is further strengthening its position with cloud gaming. Since the birth of Google Stadia (RIP), they have also been a huge supporter of the cloud. This support now includes Blacknut, GeForce NOW, and Xbox Cloud Gaming, to name a few.

Of course, let us not forget that Ubisoft also owns the cloud streaming rights for Activision-Blizzard titles. A move that was made in order for Microsoft to get the ABK deal rubber-stamped by regulators.

Back in August 2024, Ubisoft also tested its own cloud gaming offering using AWS. However, there has been no further information or further test of this since then. It was also mentioned in an earnings call last year that Activision-Blizzard titles would come to Ubisoft+ via cloud streaming in early 2025, but this has also not materialised.

There is no doubting that Ubisoft+ Premium coming to Blacknut is absolutely fantastic, not just for Blacknut’s cloud gaming platform but for cloud gaming in general.

Personally, this is the kind of move that I want to see more of in cloud gaming. More places and options that gamers have to play the games they want, where they want, can only be a good thing.
