XBOX has introduced Mythic Achievements for Insiders, giving 100% game completion a new place in your profile and achievement history. You earn Mythic status by completing all of a game’s original achievements, while anything added later through DLC or updates is excluded from the requirement.
This follows the feature XBOX was teasing earlier this year when Asha Sharma responded to requests for something closer to PlayStation’s Platinum trophies. As someone who enjoys chasing achievements and seeing a game properly finished, I like that XBOX is finally giving that accomplishment a more visible identity instead of leaving it buried inside a Gamerscore total.
Mythic Status Recognizes the Original Achievement List
The requirement is straightforward. Complete every achievement included with the original game and you earn Mythic status for that game.
That distinction around DLC and later updates is important. Achievement lists can grow well after launch, sometimes because of paid expansions or free content updates. Mythic status focuses on the original achievement set, so completing a game at launch won’t suddenly lose its meaning because more achievements appear months later.
Once you earn Mythic status, XBOX says you keep it.
The feature also works with your existing achievement history. Eligible games you already completed can receive Mythic recognition, including supported XBOX 360 games, so there’s no need to go back and complete them again just to unlock the new status.
For achievement hunters, I think that retroactive support is one of the best parts of the announcement. If you’ve spent years finishing XBOX games, those completions can finally get something more visible attached to them.
XBOX Profiles Now Put Completion Front and Centre
Mythic Achievements come with several changes to the way XBOX displays achievement progress.
Profiles now include a new Gaming tab where you can see achievements, track your next Gamerscore milestone badge, and revisit completed games. Mythic completions stand out in your achievement history with their own frame, making them easier to spot.
Achievement lists also get a progress bar showing how close you are to earning Mythic status. Add-on achievements are tagged separately, which makes it clearer what you still need to finish for Mythic.
XBOX says similar progress information appears across XBOX, including in the Guide and Achievement details.
That should make the chase more enjoyable for me. I like being able to see exactly how close I am to finishing an achievement list without digging through every individual achievement and doing the math myself.
Mythic Gives XBOX Its Own 100% Completion Marker
Back in August, we covered XBOX teasing something for people who wanted a completion marker closer to PlayStation’s Platinum trophies. At the time, there wasn’t much detail beyond confirmation that something was coming later in 2026.
Mythic Achievements now give that 100% completion goal its own identity inside the XBOX ecosystem.
Mythic uses its own presentation, progress tracking, profile treatment, and rules around original versus add-on achievements. The appeal is similar to a Platinum trophy, though. Finishing the original achievement list now gives you a clearly identifiable accomplishment rather than only adding more points to your Gamerscore.
For me, this is one of those XBOX updates that immediately gets my attention. Gamerscore is great for tracking everything you’ve earned over time, but Mythic finally gives 100% completion its own badge of honour.
