Amazon has launched the all-new Amazon Luna cloud gaming service across millions of TVs in North America. Starting today, Luna is available on eligible X1 and Xfinity Xumo Stream Box devices in the United States. And Rogers customers in Canada can access Luna through the Rogers Xfinity Stream Box.
More than seventy percent of Canadians play video games. And this update brings cloud access directly to TVs without the need for a console. Customers can say Luna into the Rogers Xfinity voice remote, sign in with their Amazon account and start browsing.
Luna appears on eligible devices as part of each company’s existing entertainment layout. Prime members can play more than fifty games, while Luna Premium offers a library of more than one hundred games. The service runs through the same Rogers Xfinity interface that handles live TV, on-demand content and streaming apps. Comcast customers in the U.S. will see similar integration across supported Xfinity hardware.
How Luna Fits Into the Xfinity Platform
Luna’s rollout on Comcast and Rogers hardware gives people in the U.S. and Canada another way to try cloud gaming. It now runs on eligible X1 and Xumo Stream Box devices in the United States. And on Rogers Xfinity Stream Box units in Canada.
I am curious to see how people use it as the rollout reaches more households next year. Cloud gaming is often easier to try when it appears on familiar hardware. And this update offers that path without extra equipment or setup.
