GreenVita now brings XBOX Cloud Gaming to PlayStation Vita through an unofficial homebrew app. The native Vita client connects to Microsoft’s cloud gaming service and uses the handheld’s hardware H.264 decoder to display the stream.

The app reached version 0.1.7 on July 21, 2026, five days after its first public build arrived. Updates during that span reduced input delay, fixed menu problems, added control options, and encrypted saved Microsoft authentication tokens. With five public versions arriving in less than a week, GreenVita remains in an early stage of development.

GreenVita Runs XBOX Cloud Gaming Through A Native Vita App

GreenVita was built in Rust and uses the PS Vita’s hardware H.264 decoder to handle the video stream. Access depends on the XBOX Cloud Gaming catalogue available through the signed-in account.

The app requires VitaShell on a homebrew-enabled PlayStation Vita and an XBOX account with cloud gaming access. It also needs permission to use the Vita’s hardware video-decoder module. GreenVita is independent community software with no official connection to Microsoft, XBOX, Sony, or PlayStation.

Five GreenVita Builds Arrive In Less Than A Week

GreenVita version 0.1.3 arrived on July 16, followed by four more public builds through July 21. Version 0.1.4 improved menu navigation, fixed several interface issues, and slightly reduced input delay.

Version 0.1.5 reduced streaming input latency again. It also fixed freezes while game artwork loaded, added an option to disable the Vita’s rear touch pad for individual games, and revised the language and settings menus.

Version 0.1.6 followed on July 21 with another latency reduction and encrypted storage for saved Microsoft authentication tokens. The security change is intended to prevent other Vita homebrew apps from reading the saved token. Version 0.1.7 arrived later that day, although its release page doesn’t include written notes.

GreenVita’s first week has centred on streaming performance, navigation, controls, and account security. Version 0.1.7 is available through the GreenVita GitHub repository.

For PS Vita owners already using homebrew, the app connects Sony’s discontinued handheld to a current cloud gaming service.
