Netgem is marking three months of PLEIO by adding a proper blockbuster to its cloud gaming line-up. Mafia: Definitive Edition is now available to play on PLEIO in the UK as part of the existing subscription, with no extra purchase needed.
This version of Mafia rebuilds the original 2002 crime story with a new script, more cutscenes, extra playable sequences, and a re-recorded orchestral score. It still follows Tommy Angelo’s climb through Lost Heaven, just with more room for character work and updated presentation.
Netgem says this is the first time Mafia: Definitive Edition has been offered as part of a TV and streaming service in the UK. That gives PLEIO a clear answer when someone asks whether it supports longer single-player stories or just smaller family titles.
Family-Focused Cloud Games Join Mafia
Mafia is arriving alongside new kid-friendly games that all live inside the same PLEIO cloud gaming catalogue, so you can hand the controller to younger players without swapping hardware.
Netgem is adding several family games to PLEIO’s cloud line-up, including:
- The Smurfs: Dreams, a colourful platformer built around classic Smurfs characters
- Totally Spies! Cyber Mission and Tintin Reporter – Cigars of the Pharaoh, which both lean on well-known TV and comic brands
- My Universe – Doctors & Nurses, a lighter hospital-life game aimed at younger players
All of these titles run through the same cloud setup as Mafia. You launch them from the PLEIO interface and play with the included gamepad, so the small box under your TV effectively acts like a family cloud console.
If you’re using PLEIO as your cloud box under the TV, it gives you a pretty good mix. You get a full crime story for older teens and adults sitting right next to gentler platformers and role-play games for kids.
Cloud Gaming Value Play With The £99 Anniversary Offer
To line up with Mafia’s arrival and the three-month anniversary, Netgem is bringing back PLEIO’s launch promotion. Until the end of February, you can pay £99 for twelve months of access to PLEIO Extra Channels and Cloud Gaming, with the streaming puck and a gamepad included in the package.
That bundle covers Mafia: Definitive Edition, The Smurfs: Dreams, Tintin Reporter – Cigars of the Pharaoh, My Universe – Doctors & Nurses, and the rest of the PLEIO cloud catalogue under a single yearly price instead of everything being sold piecemeal.
As a living-room cloud option, that makes PLEIO easier to compare with things like smart-TV cloud apps or other plug-in devices that come with a controller in the box.
Mafia On PLEIO Signals Bigger Cloud Ambitions
Netgem’s own messaging points to where it wants to go next. Managing Director Sylvain Thevenot calls adding Mafia: Definitive Edition as part of the 12-month cloud gaming access “a real indication of what consumers can expect from PLEIO in the future,” describing it as a console-quality game they are excited to offer first in the UK inside a TV and streaming package.
For cloud gaming, that sets the direction. PLEIO is no longer just about lighter family games that happen to be streamed. With Mafia on board and multiple branded kids’ games showing up at the same time, the small box under your TV starts to look closer to a cloud console that can cover different age groups in the house.
If Netgem keeps pairing higher-profile campaigns like Mafia with regular family additions in the catalogue, PLEIO could end up as a strong example of how far TV-first hardware can go as a cloud gaming platform without asking you to buy a separate console.
