HELD is now live in Indonesia, with Netgem and Telkom Indonesia launching the cloud gaming service for mobile devices. The service streams PC and console games through the cloud, while Netgem says Telkom Indonesia has more than 150 million mobile users.
Netgem announced the launch on LinkedIn and highlighted games from publishers including 2K and Outright Games. Overcooked! 2 and Mafia: Definitive Edition are among the games available through HELD.
HELD Launches As A Mobile Cloud Gaming Service In Indonesia
HELD uses cloud streaming to make PC and console games playable on mobile devices in Indonesia. Netgem says the service gives telecom operators another entertainment option for customers while helping publishers reach a wider audience.
The 150 million figure is important context for the launch, but it represents Telkom Indonesia’s overall mobile customer base. It doesn’t mean HELD already has 150 million users or subscribers.
This is also the next step in a relationship we’ve been following for several months. In March, we reported that Telkom Indonesia was among the operators connected to Netgem as the company expanded cloud gaming across 10 markets. Those markets were already part of Netgem’s commercial picture before HELD went live.
Netgem says its teams worked with Telkom Indonesia to get HELD live in time for Indonesia’s national holiday. The launch turns one of those existing telecom relationships into a live cloud gaming service in Indonesia.
Launch Lineup Includes Overcooked! 2 And Mafia: Definitive Edition
Netgem highlighted six games available through HELD at launch:
- Overcooked! 2
- Mafia: Definitive Edition
- Beholder
- Barbie Project Friendship
- NBA Bounce
- Nickelodeon Kart Racers 2: Grand Prix
Netgem specifically names 2K and Outright Games among the publishers represented on HELD.
The launch also adds context to the Mafia news we covered yesterday. We reported that Mafia II: Definitive Edition was launching through Telkom Indonesia’s HELD offer alongside its arrival on JioGames in India.
That earlier announcement confirmed another 2K game is also coming to HELD. With HELD now live, the bigger picture is clearer. Netgem now has an active cloud gaming offer in Indonesia, with games from established publishers already available through it.
The next thing to watch is how HELD’s catalogue grows from here.
