XBOX Expands Advanced Shader Delivery Beyond ROG XBOX Ally To More AMD Devices

XBOX has expanded Advanced Shader Delivery beyond ROG XBOX Ally and ROG XBOX Ally X. The feature is now generally available in the XBOX PC app for supported games on compatible AMD-powered Windows 11 devices.

If you have the right hardware, the benefit is simple. Advanced Shader Delivery downloads precompiled shaders before a supported game starts, so you spend less time waiting at first launch and less time dealing with shader stutter when you finally get in.

That is the real change. What started as a handheld PC feature is now moving further into XBOX PC gaming through Windows 11, supported games, and AMD RDNA hardware.

Advanced Shader Delivery Started On ROG XBOX Ally

Advanced Shader Delivery first launched with ROG XBOX Ally and ROG XBOX Ally X in October 2025. It was built to reduce one of the most annoying parts of PC gaming on handheld devices. Some games compile shaders the first time you start them, which can mean long waits, early stutter, or extra battery drain before you even start playing.

For supported games, Advanced Shader Delivery downloads precompiled shaders ahead of time. When everything lines up, that can cut launch times by up to 95 percent. Supported games show a “Precompiled shaders installed” message on the loading screen when the feature is active.

Forza Horizon 6 is the easiest example to understand. In Microsoft’s test, the game loaded in 4 seconds compared to almost 1.5 minutes on a PC using an AMD Radeon RX 7600 GPU and AMD Ryzen 7 5800 8-Core processor. That is a clear difference on a handheld PC, where shorter play windows and battery use are part of the appeal.

XBOX PC App Support Moves The Feature Beyond One Handheld Family

The bigger change is that Advanced Shader Delivery is no longer only tied to ROG XBOX Ally. Support has expanded beyond XBOX Insiders into general availability in the XBOX PC app, and AMD has expanded support across its RDNA architecture line.

The requirements are specific. You need Windows 11 24H2 or higher, XBOX Gaming Services 37.113.11003.0 or higher, AMD RDNA 1 through RDNA 4 architecture, and AMD Adrenalin 26.6.1 or higher. The game also needs to support Advanced Shader Delivery.

There are still limits. This doesn’t apply to every PC game, and it doesn’t mean every AMD device gets the same benefit automatically. Developers need to support the process by uploading a game with a state object database, or SODB, to XBOX Partner Center.

Supported Games Already Cover Major XBOX PC Releases

Advanced Shader Delivery only becomes useful when the games people actually install support it. Microsoft’s current list already includes Forza Horizon 6, 007 First Light, Avowed, Crimson Desert, Hades II, Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade, Final Fantasy XVI, Ninja Gaiden 4, South of Midnight, Starfield, The Outer Worlds 2, Grounded 2, Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, Persona 3 Reload, Sea of Thieves, S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chornobyl, and Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024.

The wider list also includes Call of Duty: Black Ops 6, Call of Duty: Black Ops 7, Hogwarts Legacy, Lies of P, Monster Hunter Rise, Resident Evil 2 (2019), Resident Evil 3, Grand Theft Auto V Enhanced, The Elder Scrolls: Oblivion Remaster, Gears of War: Reloaded, Gears Tactics, Deep Rock Galactic, Metro Exodus, and more.

AMD Hardware Brings This Closer To Cloud Gaming

This is where the news brushes against cloud gaming. Not because Microsoft has announced service support, but because of AMD hardware. Boosteroid’s Ultra tier uses AMD EPYC CPUs and Radeon RX 7900 XT GPUs, so AMD hardware is already part of cloud gaming infrastructure Cloud Dosage has covered before.

Advanced Shader Delivery still isn’t a Boosteroid feature. Microsoft hasn’t announced support for Boosteroid, GeForce NOW, XBOX Cloud Gaming, or any other cloud service. For now, it’s an XBOX PC app improvement for supported games on supported AMD-powered Windows 11 devices.

Advanced Shader Delivery Moves Further Into XBOX PC Gaming

Advanced Shader Delivery started as a ROG XBOX Ally feature. This change moves it further into the XBOX PC app. XBOX is now tying the feature to supported games, compatible AMD hardware, and Windows 11. It is no longer limited to one handheld family.

That makes the news easy to understand. If your device, driver, Windows version, and game all support it, the wait before first play should be shorter. The cloud connection remains indirect. But the hardware overlap with services such as Boosteroid makes AMD’s role in gaming infrastructure harder to ignore.
