Netgem is expanding its PLEIO TV service through UK telecom providers. PLEIO combines television, streaming services and cloud gaming in one app, with games included in TV subscriptions at no additional gaming fee. Netgem expects this business to help increase revenue in 2026, despite an estimated €650,000 write-down following BT’s acquisition of longtime customer TalkTalk.
TalkTalk’s TV service remains operational, but Netgem still needs to agree with BT on future arrangements. Vodafone TV launched in the UK on October 1, and Netgem expects its other UK partnerships to help offset declining TalkTalk revenue.
PLEIO Revenue Comes From Operator and Subscriber Fees
According to Netgem, PLEIO provides TV and entertainment services for more than 30 telecom operators, from regional broadband providers to national companies. Some offer the service under their own names. Others include Netgem’s branding alongside theirs. The content and TV interfaces vary by operator, but all use the same cloud-based PLEIO platform.
Netgem charges operators a fixed fee to manage their TV services. It also receives a monthly fee based on the number of active TV subscribers each operator has. Those payments continue as long as customers remain subscribed. Film rentals and advertising on free, ad-supported TV channels can bring in additional revenue.
Netgem also earns one-time fees for integrating new operators, adapting their TV services and localizing content. Bringing a provider onto PLEIO can take a few days or several weeks, depending on what it needs. Customers can access the PLEIO app on televisions and mobile devices.
Netgem Expects a €650,000 TalkTalk Write-Down
BT acquired TalkTalk Telecommunications Limited and PlatformX Communications Limited from TalkTalk’s administrator on October 5. TalkTalk has been a Netgem customer for years, but its TV subscriber base had already been declining for months.
Netgem expects a write-down of around €650,000 in doubtful receivables to affect its 2026 results. The estimate covers money Netgem is owed but may not recover.
The UK government opened a public-interest review of the acquisition on October 5. The Competition and Markets Authority is due to report by October 19.
Vodafone TV and Other UK Operators Expand PLEIO
Vodafone TV launched commercially on October 1 for Vodafone’s fixed and mobile broadband customers across its distribution channels. Under a multi-year agreement, Netgem develops the software, supplies the content and operates the TV service. The Vodafone deployment doesn’t involve Netgem supplying set-top boxes.
Fibrus, Zzoomm and Voneus have also launched TV services with Netgem, and Community Fibre has moved to the new PLEIO offering. Growth across these UK partnerships is part of Netgem’s plan to offset declining TalkTalk revenue. Those partnerships extend PLEIO’s presence in the UK, where cloud gaming is part of its wider television offering.
Netgem’s priority is to grow its managed subscriber base and recurring subscription revenue. The company is scheduled to report its 2026 revenue on January 28, 2027.
