Over the summer, PHYND has been taking its Free Gaming Tour across the U.S. The campaign has brought its subscription-free cloud gaming service to local morning and lifestyle TV shows. Stops have included Providence, Baltimore, Washington, D.C., Seattle, and San Antonio.
Leading the appearances is Ney Castro, PHYND’s Vice President of Gaming Strategy and Community Growth. Castro has been demonstrating the service on television and walking hosts through how it works. During a Good Morning Washington appearance, he even played Garfield Kart 2 with the host.
PHYND has already expanded its service across compatible Samsung and LG TVs, along with Amazon Fire TV devices. Getting onto more screens is only part of the job. The Free Gaming Tour puts PHYND in front of television audiences and demonstrates what the service can do on a compatible TV.
PHYND’s Free Gaming Tour Has Been Crossing the U.S.
The tour has developed into a steady run of local television appearances rather than one or two isolated interviews. Earlier summer stops included Providence, followed by appearances in Baltimore and Washington, D.C. PHYND then took the campaign to Seattle around PAX West before continuing to San Antonio in September.
This isn’t a one-market campaign. PHYND appeared on programs including Studio 10, BMORE Lifestyle, Good Morning Washington, and Seattle Refined. More recent appearances in San Antonio included KABB FOX 29 and WOAI-TV.
The Seattle stop also came while PHYND was in the city for PAX West. We previously covered the company’s plans to meet developers and publishers at the event. While that was happening, Castro also brought PHYND onto Seattle Refined for a local TV audience.
Ney Castro Is Demonstrating PHYND on Local TV
Castro has become the recurring face of the Free Gaming Tour. Several stops go beyond a standard interview by putting the service on a television and letting the host see it in action.
On Good Morning Washington, Castro demonstrated PHYND directly on a TV and played Garfield Kart 2 with the host. Viewers could see the service running during the segment instead of only hearing an explanation of how cloud gaming works.
The demonstration keeps the explanation simple. Open PHYND on a compatible TV and start playing without a console or paid subscription. A local TV demonstration can communicate that quickly without turning the segment into a technical explanation.
PHYND Is Taking Smart TV Cloud Gaming Beyond Gaming Media
The choice of programs separates this campaign from more typical gaming promotion. PHYND isn’t only appearing on gaming podcasts, enthusiast sites, or industry stages. It is also appearing on local morning and lifestyle television, where gaming isn’t necessarily the main subject.
That changes how PHYND can introduce cloud gaming. Castro can sit beside a host, open the service on a television, and start playing. The television itself becomes the demonstration, which fits a service centred on devices people already have in their living rooms.
Credit to PHYND for getting out there and putting the service in front of people who may not normally follow cloud gaming. Local morning and lifestyle TV isn’t the usual place you’d expect to see a cloud gaming demonstration, and that’s part of what makes the Free Gaming Tour interesting.
Instead of waiting for people to discover PHYND on their own, Castro is putting it directly in front of new audiences and showing what cloud gaming looks like on a compatible TV. It’s a smart way to build awareness for PHYND while also introducing more people to cloud gaming.
