Welcome back to the Canadian edition of Charting in the Clouds, our monthly look at Canada’s best-selling games and the latest Canadian game sales trends. Thanks to new data from the Entertainment Software Association of Canada (ESA) and Circana, we’ve now got a clear snapshot of what Canadians were buying in March 2026.
March’s chart shows Resident Evil: Requiem holding onto the first place spot for a second month, even as a massive wave of sports games arrived. We also saw MLB: The Show 26 and WWE 2K26 enter the list in the top three, proving that the appetite for yearly sports releases remains high. Marathon made a huge debut at fourth, while Pokemon: Pokepia and Monster Hunter Stories 3: Twisted Reflection rounded out a busy middle of the pack.
We’ve included cloud gaming availability again this month. Many of March’s top games can be played in the cloud on platforms like GeForce NOW, Xbox Cloud Gaming, Amazon Luna, and Boosteroid.
Let’s take a closer look at Canada’s top-selling games for March 2026.

Horror Holds Firm Against Sports Giants
Resident Evil: Requiem keeping the top spot for a second month is a big statement. Usually, the big annual sports games or new shooters would have pushed it down by now, but the horror giant is still driving serious volume in Canada. It shows that Canadians aren’t just jumping in for launch week, they’re sticking with it even as the weather starts to shift.
The real news this month is the arrival of MLB: The Show 26 and WWE 2K26 in second and third place. March is always the month where the sports season really starts to heat up, and seeing both franchises land in the top three proves how much Canadians look forward to these releases. Marathon landing in fourth is also a massive debut for Bungie’s new extraction shooter, showing that there’s plenty of room for a new sci-fi world on the charts.
RPG Staples and Long-Running Favourites
In the middle of the pack, we saw Pokemon: Pokepia and Monster Hunter Stories 3: Twisted Reflection make solid entries at fifth and sixth. As a reminder, Nintendo’s physical-only reporting policy often means their games look a little lower on these lists than they actually are. So, a top-five debut for a new Pokemon spin-off is impressive. Monster Hunter also continues to find a dedicated audience in Canada. With Twisted Reflection providing a deeper experience for gamers to sink time into.
Further down, the usual heavy hitters are starting to slide. Call of Duty: Black Ops 7, EA Sports FC 26, and NHL 26 all dropped a few spots as new games arrived. These games are still staples, but the spring rush of new games is finally giving them some competition. Minecraft rounds out the list in tenth, proving once again that it never really leaves the conversation across the country.
March 2026 Wrap Up and Look Ahead
March felt like a proper transition into the spring release season. Resident Evil: Requiem showed incredible staying power. The arrival of the sports giants and Marathon has completely shifted the energy of the top ten. It’s a mix of the horror we’ve been playing for weeks and the new competitive experiences that just arrived. February’s results set a high bar, and March managed to clear it with several brand new entries.
What makes this list interesting is how many of these new games are already available through cloud gaming. Outside of a few games, you can play most of these games on a phone, tablet, or laptop without needing a dedicated console under the TV. As we move further into 2026, that balance between hardware-locked games and cloud-accessible games is something we’ll keep watching closely. March’s results show that you’re still finding ways to play across all platforms as the year continues.
Now that the first quarter of the year is behind us, the baseline for the spring is set. More cloud platforms are pulling in games like Marathon and WWE 2K26, while others remain tied to their own hardware. Each monthly chart ends up showing that split pretty clearly. Some games are easy to jump into through cloud gaming almost anywhere, others still live on one console in your setup.
What about you? Which of these March games did you play, and did you jump in through the cloud or stick to local hardware?
